Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

In this role, you will develop and maintain major involvement in design support and verification services, troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments for our clients.

The Senior Systems Engineer position will include projects across many industries (aero, defence, energy and others) and strengthen in-house capability. It will involve plenty of hands-on work as well as coaching and developing more junior members of the team. This role can be based out of the Derby, Bristol, or Wimborne offices.

Responsibilities

  • Activity coordination and support of Systems Engineering activities across a portfolio of projects, including but not limited to:
  • Defining requirements and managing requirements at the system, subsystem, and equipment levels including developing and refining requirement specifications with the entire cross-functional team.
  • Development of system architectures, concepts, and solutions, including such application as a variety of tools and techniques including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • -development of systems engineering artifacts and actions (e.g. project plans, analysis, reports, etc).
  • Drafting an equipment specifications document (e.g., pumps, valves, sensors, etc).
  • Certifying systems, subsystems, and components and generating verification documentation including design verification Plans and requirement verification modules.
  • Coordination and reporting to Customer representatives; tailoring and applying engineering initiatives, best processes, and quality processes; being part of Continuous Improvement.
  • Managing and solving issues/questions that arise during the development and qualification phase.

We are looking for people who have:

  • The individual should have a Bachelors, Masters, or a PhD with specialization in a relevant field such as Engineering, Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Understanding and practical application of Systems Engineering (including requirements management, functional analysis, concept generation, and system design) would be an essential part of this skill set.
  • To this end hands-on system design experience is preferred within an aerospace environment with systems integration (mechanical, electrical, software) experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience regarding Aerospace certification standards such as FAA, EASA, Parts 25 and 33 and processes (e.g., ARP 4754).
  • Experience in MBSE methodologies and tools will be an added advantage.
  • Albeit not essential, familiarity with requirements management tools, Jama Connect, IBM DOORS, or similar, would be admired.
  • Strong project management and verbal/written communication
  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) or working towards it would be ideal.
  • You will enjoy client and colleague interaction, take responsibility for delivery, and wish to have the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic engineering team.
