Role Summary
This role is in the products group and is focused on developing UGL’s electronics products and providing support for licensed manufactured products, resale product evaluation, and involvement in major infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and documenting technical specifications, test plans, and drawings.
- Support for equipment servicing, troubleshooting, and modification of equipment.
- Cost estimation and project financial management.
- Evaluation of suppliers and contract
- Provisioning high-level technical assistance as well as conducting on-site tests.
- Circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs) designed according to the applications of embedded software developed in microcontroller-based systems.
- Prototyping, testing, fault-finding, preparing production, and customer documentation.
- In-service product failure investigation and diagnosis.
- Managing the activity and coordination with the teams to achieve the project milestones
Ideal Attributes of a Candidate
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Telecommunications, or Mechatronic Engineering (or related discipline) with eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
- 2+ years’ experience in electronics design, hands-on prototyping, schematic and PCB design (preferably with Altium Designer), and embedded C programming.
- Sectors like rail, defence, mining, or aerospace knowledge are plus.
- Skills such as project management, network, Linux, and knowledge on CENELEC safety standards would also be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills.
